Visits, analytics and advertising
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes normal connection information such as your IP address and browser details to deliver and protect the site. We use this for our legitimate interests in running a reliable, secure website.
- Basic statistics: Fathom Analytics provides cookieless visit and click counts. It does not set tracking cookies or use a persistent visitor identifier on your device. We use these statistics to understand which parts of the site are useful.
- Optional analytics: with your consent, Google Analytics and PostHog measure page visits, event-link clicks, loading more dates and clicks on “Host a hackathon”. Google uses cookies; PostHog uses random browser and session identifiers in browser storage. We send page addresses without query strings or fragments. We do not send names, email addresses, form contents or event names as analytics properties. PostHog session recording, automatic interaction capture and location enrichment are off.
- Optional advertising: with your separate consent, Google Ads uses cookies and advertising identifiers to measure advertising conversions and add visitors to remarketing audiences, so we can show relevant ads on Google and its advertising partners. A hosting-link click is a measure of interest, not proof of an enquiry or booking. Google may combine this information with information it holds under its own privacy policy.
These providers also receive normal connection information, including your IP address and browser information, when they receive a request. Google Analytics, PostHog and Google Ads stay off until you allow the relevant category. Rejecting them does not affect the event list. We do not use enhanced conversions or upload contact details to advertising platforms.
Cookies and your choices
We store your privacy choices in local storage for 180 days. This is necessary to remember and respect your decision. Analytics and advertising are optional and start switched off. Use “Privacy preferences” in the footer to change your choices or withdraw consent at any time.
Withdrawing consent stops the relevant tracking, removes accessible first-party Google cookies and advertising storage and, for analytics, clears our PostHog identifiers. The page reloads to unload Google's scripts. It does not undo information already sent or remove cookies stored on Google's own domains. Google's cookie information explains its cookies and their durations.
Information you send us
If you email us, we use your contact details and message to reply and handle your request, using our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, or taking steps towards a contract where relevant. Email is handled through our Google Workspace account. There is currently no mailing-list signup on this site.
Event and Ramen Club links open other websites. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them, register for an event or submit an enquiry.
Sharing, retention and international processing
We use the providers named above to run the site and measure its use. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where required by law.
Our PostHog project is hosted in the EU. Other providers may process information in the UK, EU, US and other countries. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on applicable adequacy decisions or approved contractual safeguards. The linked provider policies explain their processing and safeguards.
Privacy choices and our anonymous PostHog browser identifier expire after 180 days. A PostHog session identifier is stored per browser tab, for up to 30 minutes. We retain measurement data while it is useful for operating and improving the site, review it annually and remove it when no longer needed. Google also applies its account and cookie retention settings. We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as needed to handle it and meet any relevant legal obligations.
Our Google Ads website remarketing audience has a membership duration of up to 540 days after your latest qualifying visit with advertising consent. Another qualifying visit restarts that window. This is separate from the 180 days for which we remember your privacy choices. Withdrawing advertising consent stops further advertising tracking on this site; it does not automatically delete information already sent to Google.
Your rights and contact
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict your personal information, object to its use, or request a portable copy. You can withdraw optional tracking consent through Privacy preferences without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need information to verify your request; we cannot always link anonymous statistics to a particular person.

We will update this page when the site or our use of information changes.
